about

Lando Chill’s new album, “The Boy Who Spoke To The Wind,” is a personal tribute to self actualization, spiritual acceptance and social activism. About the title, Lando says, “The wind is one’s soul. It represents the human spirit and the earth.” Lando Chill is a warrior-poet, a man with one ear to mother nature and one to the plight of humankind. Lando wants to bring the issues of political freedom, police brutality and giving a voice to marginalized communities to the national conversation.

Inspired by the Paulo Coelho book, “The Alchemist,” Lando’s new album is about transformation, personally and spiritually. While working on the project, Lando gained a new perspective. He learned that having answers isn’t enough.

Musically, this album is a movement forward from his previous work. Collaborating with producer Lasso, bassist Chris Pierce, as well as other key session musicians, the music is unique and intimate. The album harmonizes the internal and external in a cathartic symphony. The instrumentation is unlike anything else, sprawling from classic lo-fi hiphop to high production scoring. The album is as reminiscent of James Blake and Bon Iver as it is of Frank Ocean or Kendrick Lamar.

“All is one and one is all. When you speak to your soul, you speak to the world. You speak through love and that’s how you transform.” -Lando Chill

Track Name: Break Them Shackles
Verse 1

the earth shakes,
the sound of mankind on decline as they voice quake,
beneath an open pit,
Lazarus made in one take,
shot by a rebel on a rebel watch the level and the mistake,
of cutting one’s nose for the goal to spite the whole face,
we one race,
but see me as a nigga with a court case,
this black face,
is Freddy to you steadys with the white shade,
this tight space,
we stuck up in the muck but got the nice fade.

(chorus)

Say we gotta look good when we break the shackles one day,
We finna look good when we break the shackles one day,
We boutsta look good when we break the shackles one day,
We finna look good when we break the shackles one day,
I spokes to the wind and I’ll tell you what the sun say,
We finna look good when we break the shackles one day,
We boutsta look good when we break the shackles one day
We boutsta look good when we break the shackles one day

We break them down,
We break them down
We break them down

say we boutsa look good when we break hem shackles one day,
we finna look good when we break them shackles one day,
I spoke to the wind and I tell you what the sun say,
we finna look good when we break them shackles one day…

Verse 2

say we finna look good when we break them shackles one day,
we boutsta look good like the hood that you gentrify,
its do or die,
for those who look like you and I,
a loosened tie can still strangle though,
so peep the queues and you tangle with the money more funny than an ocean view,
the notion grew just a greed began to speak to you,
its nothing new,
humans in the race to see the deepest blue,
or blackness of space,
or the breath that it takes,
or the lives that we fake,
while the earth steady shakes,
from the pain that we make,
so take head of the wind,
take head of the wind,
while them phony mens win like…
or the lives that we fake (lives that we fake)
so take head of the wind, take head of the wind, while the phoney mans win like…

so we finna look good

(x8)
Track Name: No Paz
Shit got rough when a nigga stopped thankin,
Gained more steam when a nigga stopped drankin
Liquor, the vicar cant hear what you thankin,
I see no peace, just the police bang

(x2)

Verse 1

Said the g men lurk at the edge of our turf warfare where them shots aim fair as the system,
Box every nigga in a cell,
Get a check in the mail so them head count numbers aint dippin,
While the motherfuckin’ police trippin,
Tippin the scales, in favor of the rich politic type stiff who would rather bullshit with his gifts right quick than ever try to listen,
To the plight of the poor, whatchu fightin us for, with them four door tints and them canines,
Boy step down for they hit you with that slave mind,
No prob to kill just to save mine,
With them blue c notes in a gold cash clip with some shit that the police took from the drugs crimes,
Gats from the back leave you loose from the C9,
And deader than the amazon’s grapevines

Verse 2

Fight back withcha grissle,
(SFX) go the missle,
past cats who would die just to fight,
to the middle class,
fades with the shade when the police triple
death techs in the hood so we wish a jake would,
step foot in the wood with a body cam,
12 get slick, saint peter at the lobby fam,
turn a day job were you rob for the hobby,
fam die when you lie for the pride of a bobby,
fuck the pig nigga

Shit got rough when a nigga stopped thankin,
Gained more steam when a nigga stopped drankin
Liquor, the vicar cant hear what you thankin,
I see no peace just the police bang
