about

Peso (feat. Quelle Chris & Rey)
"Lasso and I set out to create a soundscape that could be the canvas for both our southwest border influence & midwest origins, nestled between the experience of living as a person of color in a police state & the caution one must inherit in order to feel safe in a country that has yet to fully accept nor understand equality. The hood is as much the “frontline” as the border & reservations, as they all have been militarized against & oppressed by our government; through legislation, perception, & abhorrent action. Quelle Chris & Rey from Ojalá Systems round out the narrative; creating a kaleidoscope of wisdom & wariness that precedes what it means to be a person of color battered by the wage gap within the police state in which we reside." - Lando Chill

lyrics

peso

(lando verse)

keep them eyelids peeled
never healed from them old scars,
boy bogard ya fate for they spray you from that cop car,
born up in the trap nigga Ackbar,
jakes gon start to hate you if you act hard,
so we solid like some collard greens and ox tail,
I wonder if you box well,
I wonder when you plunder does that hunger come from cop well,
that’s bubbling inside to put us niggas in a deep cell,
the first tell,
is how you sell your own when them shots fell

(interlude)

double agents atcha door,
tryna infiltrate the flow,
CO-PRO-INTEL put the coke up on the shore,
Hoover hated all my bros
for they stronger than they foes.
migra dirty as they go,
come and kill us for the low,
twitter keep us in the know,
now we hashin for the glow,
double agents atcha door,
tryna infiltrate the flow nigga

(chorus)

peso
put it in the back when they say so
hitchu with that wax, be the caseload
everybody feds nigga stay woke

peso
put it in the back when they say so
hitchu with that wax, be the caseload
everybody feds raza stay woke
